In this video Amo Gaba tells four stories about Wao ancestors. The first concerns Biye, a Wao that could fly but has absolutely no capacity for hunting. He is constantly stealing game from the other Waorani. The others plot to kill him. However while they succeed in killing Biye’s brother Kemo, Biye escapes. The second is the story of Gaba, a ferocious Wao who kills his own people, including his wives. In the end the people kill both Gaba and his brother. The third story is a good illustration of why the ancestors warned the youth not to lie. A youth misinterprets the actions of another Wao, Taremo, which leads Gankemo to attack Taremo. The third is the story of Gawë and Kare who are informed by a Wao woman who has escaped after being kidnapped by foreigners. The foreigners are capturing and killing the Waorani and carrying some of them off to Peru. Gawë and Kare find and kill these foreigners and later drive out and kill other foreigners. The interview takes place at night in the privacy of Amo’s traditional house. He tells the story to Uboye, his son, but there are other family members present.
